Common procedures provided by our physicians:
Electroencephalogram (EEG) - is an electronically amplified recording of the activity of the brain. It is a painless procedure. Special sensors are applied to the scalp with a paste and a recording graph is made. You will be relaxing in a recliner, and may be sleeping during the procedure.
To prepare for your EEG, be sure that your hair is clean, free of oil or products such as hairspray or gels. Come to your EEG sleepy, go to bed later and get up earlier. We also ask that you avoid eating or drinking anything with caffeine or chocolate for 24 hours before the test.

Nerve Conduction Study (NCV) - is a test to measure nerve function. Mild electric currents are applied to the skin by small metal disks (electrodes). This is done to see how quickly impulses travel between nerves. This test will cause your muscles to twitch.
To prepare for your NCV, please do NOT apply any lotion to your arms, legs, or feet prior to your appointment. Our machines require clean skin in order to work properly. We also ask that you wear loose-fitting clothing that can easily been pulled above the knees or elbows.

Electromyography (EMG) - is a test to measure muscle function. A fine needle is placed under the skin into the muscle being tested. When the needle is inserted, you may feel as if your skin is being pinched. The needle allows the electrical activity in your muscles to be measured.
To prepare for your EMG, please do NOT apply any lotion to your arms, legs, or feet prior to your appointment. Our machines require clean skin in order to work properly. We also ask that you wear loose-fitting clothing that can easily been pulled above the knees or elbows.

Nerve Blocks- an injection of a nerve-numbing substance onto or near nerves. Nerve blocks are used to help control pain, but also offer diagnostic benefits by helping to identify specific nerves as pain generators.

Sleep Studies- a test that observes what your body does while you’re sleeping. These observations may include brain activity, heart rate and rhythm, breathing rate and rhythm, eye movement, muscle movement, etc. These measures are taken by small metal disks (electrodes) that are attached to your head and skin. It is a painless procedure.
To prepare for your sleep study, please be sure to shower and have your hair free of oil or products such as hairspray or gels. Do not wear makeup, fingernail polish or fake nails, as some of the test equipment will be placed on your face and fingers. We also ask that you avoid caffeine and chocolate the day of your test. You may pack a small overnight bag with personal items such as your nightclothes, toothbrush, comb and a favorite pillow or blanket.
